Our first free media workshop of 2014 Our first free media workshop was held in 2014 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Gnanartha Pradipaya, the oldest Sinhala newspaper currently published in Sri Lanka where I worked at that time. The Maradana Society and the Peace Center, which are holding this free media workshop today, also participated in it. More than 200 applications were received, but in the end only 48 were eligible to participate in all the lectures and receive certificates. It produced many young journalists. Some of them are working in grant media today. Others have graduated from university today. Others are short film makers, stage actors, announcers, musicians. Look... the names of the people who gave lectures to them. There are many skilled veteran media professionals in Sri Lanka at that time.
2014 වසරේ අපේ පළමු නොමිලේ මාධ්‍ය වැඩමුලුව
අපේ පළමු නොමිලේ මාධ්‍ය වැඩමුලුව පැවැත්වයේ 2014 වසරේ එවකට මා සේවය කළ ලංකාවේ දැනට පළවන ඉපැරණිම සිංහල පුවත්පත වන ‘‘ඥානාර්ථ ප‍්‍රදීපය’’ පුවත්පතේ 150 වැනි සංවත්සරය මුල් කර ගනිමින්. එයට අද මෙම නොමිලේ මාධ්‍ය වැඩමුලුව පවත්වන මරදාන සමාජය හා සාමයික කේන්ද‍්‍රයත් හවුල් වුනා. අයැදුම්පත් 200 කට වැඩි ප‍්‍රමාණයක් ආවත් අවසානයේ 48 ක් තමයි සියලුම දේශන සදහා සහභාගී වී සහතිකපත් ලබාගන්නට සුදුස්සන් වුනේ. එයින් තරුණ ජනමාධ්‍යවේදීන් රැසක් බිහිවුනා. එවුන්ගෙන් ඇතැමුන් අද ප‍්‍රදාන මාධ්‍ය රැසක කටයුතු කරනවා. තවත් අය අද විශ්ව විද්‍යාල අධ්‍යාපනයද හදාරා එලියට ඇවිත්. තවත් අය කෙටි චිත‍්‍රපටකරුවන්, වේදිකා නාට්‍යකරුවන්, නිවේදකයින්, සංගීත ශිල්පීන්. බලන්න…. ඔවුන්ට දේශන ලබාදුන් පිරිසගේ නම් ටික. ලංකාවේ එවකට හිටි දක්ෂ ප‍්‍රවීන මාධයවේදීන් රැසක් එහි සිටිනවා.
